When we make a garment at Wavier, it is never an exercise in rinse and repeat. We design clothing to be worn on all sorts of occasions, clothing that can transition easily from one activity, place or environment, to another.

Our first capsule - the Dune Series, was designed with exactly this criteria in mind - a collection of three core styles in classic silhouettes, using superlative Japanese fabric and employing a number of seamless, utilitarian details. Now, as we get ready to go live with our first t-shirts and a new and improved Dune Shirt, we thought we’d share with you a bit of the work we’ve done on our existing and new styles.

Left to Right: Fitting the Dune Jacket at first proto stage: we removed the hood to streamline the silhouette for a more classic, “Harrington” style feel; Mocking up our new “Happy Baby” graphic tee.

The Dune Shirt was originally conceptualised as the ultimate featherweight summer shirt. Made in micro-ripstop and featuring minimal hiking-shirt inspired pockets, it can be lighter than a tee but provide cover and options for outfitting (both of which often lack in the peak of a long, hot summer). Now, reimagined for Australian winter and a (somewhat) more forgiving Northern Hemisphere summer, we are soon releasing a new version of our favourite shirt - tweaked to take more classic pleated pockets and a square hem (ideal for layering and wearing open), in an exceptional Japanese needle pique cloth.

But perhaps most excitingly, we are nearly ready to introduce some graphics to our offering, bringing to life our inspiration in a new way and putting our spin on an Australian tradition of great graphic surf tees. Our tees will be printed locally, on long-staple Supima cotton.

New releases will be arriving over the next couple of weeks and month, follow us on Instagram and subscribe to keep an eye out for emails with launch dates.

Left to Right: Fitting the Dune Series - tweaking silhouette, fit and detail; the classic cut of the Dune Shirt; mocking up development for swimwear (!!) ; a sawn-off pant in development.
